Lim-pid Show Old Match reports Home Page United succumbed to Limavady for the third time in this league campaign and though it may be debatable about whether Limavady deserved to win this match or not, Ballymena definitely didn't. We started the match brightly, with Lee Patrick, bringing a good save from Limavady's young keeper in the fifth minute. Then Shea Campbell had a goal disallowed in the thirteenth minute, but for what reason, I cannot tell, as he was clearly on-side. Then in the thirty third minute a Trevor McLernon corner fell to Paul Byrne and the former Glenavon stalwart, somehow managed to flick it over the bar from a couple of yards. I can't remember another incident of note, excepting for the referee's half-time whistle, if you'll pardon the pun! For the benefit of any morons (Coleraine fans, members of United's official web site etc.), the referee's whistle could be said to be blowing a tune. Oh never mind, it's probably beyond your intelligence anyway! Limavady were a more dominant force in the second half and enjoyed most of the possession, without looking like scoring. Ballymena's team seemed to have resigned themselves to the fact that it was not going to be their day. Manager Shiels tried to change things round somewhat, replacing the ineffectual Campbell, with Robbie White. Campbell again showed his petulance at being replaced and manager Shiels needs to sort this matter out fairly soon , or it'll cause big, big trouble. Culbertson was also withdrawn at this stage, to be replaced by Marty Robinson, but these changes had little or no effect. Just when it looked like the match was going to finish in a scoreless draw, up popped that old 'warhorse' Geoff Ferris, to play a short corner to McIlmoyle, who cut inside a lacklustre United defence and fired home through a ruck of players. |
