The Society's first meeting was scheduled for 7/3/78 at 13:15 hrs. to discuss the setting up of a golf Society. No minutes available for this meeting and it's not known if the meeting ever took place. But there are minutes of a meeting on the 15/3/78. Those present were Donald Brodie the Station Manager at that time, Charlie Young and Paul Dowdie (the gang of three). An invitation was extended to Kennedy & Donkin and all contractors on site at Kilroot and Cloghan Point to join as Associate members and an invitation to Kilroot staff and Generation Projects to join as full members. Annual Subs. £2 for full member and £1.50 for associates. It was hoped to organise an evening monthly outing to a local golf club preferably Whitehead. Also day outings to other clubs further afield. A further meeting was held at an unrecorded date, sometime before the end of March '78. Those present were Charlie Young, Paul Dowdie, Ian Hill, Eric Nelson, Willie McIlhatton and Billy McClintock. The following officers were appointed, Captain: Donald Brodie Vice-Captain: Jim McSparron Treasurer: Paul Dowdie Secretary: Charlie Young It was stated that Ronnie Nelsons secondment to the Work Study Department at Kilroot, was to be implemented on the first of April and he was elected onto the organizing committee.
