1985

In 1985 Alex McDowell was Captain, Ronnie Nelson was Vice-Captain, Davey Gore took over as Secretary, Peter O'Neill became Match & Handicapper, the first mention of this office, one can only assume it to have been part of the Secretary's  duties prior to this date. Gordon Chambers continued on the committee and the faithful Paul Dowdie continued as Treasurer. The P.G.A. Tankard outing is mentioned for the first time and the following are a list of outings and winners Whitehead 01/04 1st. Alex McDowell 42 pts., Low Ryan McClintock (Bandit) 38 pts., High Billy McClintock 35 pts., a clean sweep for the 'Macs', Cairndhu 16/04 1st. 1988  is quite an important date in the Society's calendar as for the first time there was to be a President. The first man to be honoured in this way was one of the founder members,  Billy McClintock. 1989

In 1989 Peter O'Neill was Captain, Gordon Chambers was Vice-Captain and Davey Beattie took Gordon's place on the committee, the other officers remained unchanged. Ten new members  joined that year and  all are still affiliated to the Society at the moment (01/02/00). The following is a list of these members, Henry Richmond, Willie Kirkpatrick, Steven Clarke, Junior Stevenson, Scottie Boyd, Bill Pedlow, Deric Montgomery, Ian Thornton, Colin Eagleson and Alan Wallace. I decided not to list these names in alphabetical order as Henry Richmond deserves to be out first, at least once anyway. There is a record of outings for this year but not of all winners, so here's what we have: Greenisland 29/03 1st. Fred Young 37 pts. Low Mel Bacon 35 pts. and High Paddy McGarry 34 pts. Ballyclare 21/04 1st. Bill Pedlow 38pts. Low Wesley Wright 37 pts. and High Davey Beattie 37 pts. Cairndhu 10/05 1st. D. Atkinson 41 pts. Low Deric Montgomery 41 pts. and High W. Lilley 36 pts. Scottie Boyd 47 pts. High Colin Eagleson 47 pts. and Low Billy Douglas 45 pts., Larne 26/04 1st. Holden Baxter, Low Billy Douglas and High Brian Mongan, Masserene 17/05 Captains Day winner Vinod Tandon, Whitehead 26/06 Presidents Day, winner Lawrence Holly, Cairndhu 30/07 1st. Damien Holly, Low Rab Greer and High Jim Bodles, Ballyclare 24/08 1st. Alan Rodney, Low Bill Pedlow and High Billy Rutherford, Kirkistown 21/09 Prize Giving 1st. Colin Martin 34 pts. 2nd. Davey Beattie 32 pts. 3rd. Ian Thornton 31 pts. and 4th. Davey Gore 30 pts.. Billy Douglas won the 'Top Dog' and at the A.G.M. which followed was somewhat controversially proposed as Vice-Captain but after a ballot Neil Fitzsimmons was duly elected. Two players made their debuts that year, Gerry McCorry and Steven Emmett. At present I have no details of the Turkey Shoot.
